I treat your email as sacred. This page says exactly what that means in practice: what is collected, who can see it, and how to get rid of it.

Who is responsible

Healing Through My Ink Inc., Ontario, Canada, is responsible for the personal information collected through healingthroughmyink.com.

What is collected

Your email address — only if you choose to join the mailing list. Nothing else is asked for. No name, no address, no phone number.

Anything you send by email — if you write to us, we keep the message so we can reply.

Basic visit information — pages viewed, rough location by country or region, the type of device and browser, and how you arrived at the site. This is collected in aggregate through Google Analytics and is not used to identify you personally.

No payments are taken on this website, so no card or banking details are ever collected here.

Why

The email address is used for one thing: to send updates about the book, the trilogy and the work. Nothing else.

The visit information is used to understand which pages people actually read, so the site can be improved.

The mailing list

The list is run on MailerLite, which stores the addresses on its own servers. MailerLite acts on our instructions and does not use your address for its own marketing. Its privacy policy is at mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you are off the list. You can also email us and we’ll remove you by hand. We do not sell, rent, trade or share the list with anyone.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses a small number of cookies:

• Necessary cookies that make the site work and remember your cookie choice.
• Google Analytics, to count visits and see which pages are read. These load only if you accept them in the cookie banner.
• Meta Pixel, to measure Facebook and Instagram ads and to show ads to people who have visited this site. It loads only if you accept it in the cookie banner. You can change how Meta uses your activity at facebook.com/adpreferences.
• MailerLite, to show the signup form and avoid showing it again once you have subscribed.

You can change or withdraw your cookie choice at any time through the cookie banner, or by clearing cookies in your browser.

Other services this site uses

Some parts of the site are loaded from other companies, which means those companies can see your IP address when a page loads: Google Fonts and Cloudflare (for the fonts and icons), and MailerLite (for the signup form). The site is hosted by our web host, which keeps standard server logs.

Links to Amazon, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and findahelpline.com take you to sites we don’t control, each with its own privacy policy.

How long it is kept

Your email address is kept until you unsubscribe or ask for it to be deleted. Emails you send are kept as long as needed to deal with them. Analytics data is kept in aggregate on Google’s standard retention schedule.

Your rights

You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email healingthroughmyink@gmail.com and we will deal with it as quickly as we can.

In Canada, this site follows the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, you also have rights under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR, including the right to object to processing, to restrict it, and to receive a copy of your data. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to your local data protection authority.

Children

This site and the book deal with adult subject matter and are not intended for children. The mailing list is not knowingly open to anyone under 16. If you believe a child has subscribed, email us and we will remove the address.

Security

The site runs over a secure connection and access to the mailing list is protected. No website can promise perfect security, but if anything happens that puts your information at risk, we will tell you.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If the change is significant and you are on the mailing list, we will tell you by email.
